After major political changes in South Africa, Athon Kallos’s world is inverted. With white minority privileges no longer enshrined in the statute books, everything he had managed to establish in the past, begins to fall apart, and he makes bad decisions resulting in financial ruin. Athon flees to Cyprus sailing up the east coast of Africa, later he is joined by his family, and together they begin to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives. This is a story of loss and recovery, a contemporary resurrection myth in a world of transient structures. Sometimes we need to lose in order to gain. Sometimes the spirit is freed through insecurity.
